For CPrint® Mentor Mark Troy it is bicycling across the US from sea to shining sea. And right now, he’s living his dream thanks to his printing business. And, yes, it will take him several months away from the shop to do it. Are you able to achieve your dream? If not, you might want to read on.
Specifically, Mark flew from his home in Viroqua, Wisconsin to Williamsburg, Virginia where on Saturday, May 4th his biking group warmed up by riding some 28 miles roundtrip to Yorktown so they might perform an official wheel dipping in the Atlantic Ocean. Then they will ride across the country to the Pacific and do the same thing there in August.
A pretty outlandish idea, isn’t it? Yup, but most of us have a dream of some sort above and beyond getting the next job out or finishing the quotes piled up on the desk. At least we had one until we got involved in the day-to-day grind of the business. It seems like it’s natural for most to get lost in the weeds and then we look up and it is decades later.
In the CPrint® program, one of our precepts is that “our businesses are a means to an end and are not the end themselves.”
Maybe you don’t want to ride a bike across the country but I know there’s something you really want to do. For many of us, it’s having the security of enough money to pay the bills. For others, it’s being able to take time to be with the family or taking the craziness out of your everyday life. It can be done but you have to want to do it.
As for us, we’ve been “helping printers prosper” since 1985 and have seen many grow from struggling to prospering. Not everyone makes it, of course, but the real question is “what’s the alternative to doing what you are doing now?” If it’s to continue doing what you have been doing, then you need to learn more about our two-day challenge.

And if you’d like to follow Mark’s great adventure, go to www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/mdtroy2013 and read of his experiences. He’s on a fascinating journey.
Finally, Mark also wanted to do something to help out his local community and is using his bike tour to do so. He writes, “We live in one of the poorest counties in Wisconsin and many people just don’t have enough to eat. So I started a non-profit and with the help of Facebook friends, settled on The Food Chain as the name – thanks to Stephen Walker. I have a $5000 goal and so far we’re over $2000 in donations.”
